AICE: Concepts serves to advance early-stage health research that demonstrates high commercial potential in priority areas of precision health.
AICE: Concepts enables innovators to advance their client journey across four commercialization domains for health innovation:
1. Product Development, 2. Business Readiness, 3. Product-Market Fit, and 4. Regulatory Compliance.
AICE: Concepts SMEs (stream 2) provides SMEs up to $200,000 CAD to support approved projects for a maximum term of 24 months.

Funding takes the form of contributions of up to $200,000 CAD to support approved projects for a maximum term of 24 months.

Eligibility:

Projects must:
1. be led by Alberta-based small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including:
a) a company with fewer than 500 full-time employees and less than $50,000,000 annual gross
revenue;
b) incorporated in Alberta OR incorporated in another jurisdiction and extra provincially
registered in Alberta;
c) a General Partnership, Limited Partnership, or Limited Liability Partnership and registered in
Alberta; and
d) exist as a corporate person, with up-to-date corporate filings.
2. apply a computational technology or technique to address at least one clearly defined clinical problem that is relevant to the precision health priority areas of this call. Network-based precision health approaches will be prioritized.
3. address product development and at least one other commercialization domain within the health innovation pathway.

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. create a user account (i.e., account registration) in SmartSimple application portal;
2. register their application;
3. submit the AICE Intake Form via SmartSimple. Important: AICE Intake Form must be submitted at least 4 weeks in advance of the application deadline;
4. participate in the Intake meeting, with Alberta Innovates and any relevant project partners to ensure program fit;
5. complete application via SmartSimple.
