Description:
The Accueillez un stagiaire program offers a salary subsidy to Quebec companies that create quality work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities that encourage the development of students’ skills and abilities to adapt and evolve in the labour market in a sustainable way.
Companies can benefit from a personalized coaching service offered to companies and interns from diverse backgrounds to promote integration and employment retention. This support is offered by professionals from the Employment Counseling Centers throughout Quebec.
Comments on Funding:
Funding takes the form of a subsidy covering:
– up to 50% of each eligible intern’s gross salary, for a maximum of $5,000 per student; – up to 70% of the gross salary for each first-year intern or intern classified within an under-represented group, up to a maximum of $7,000.

Eligibility:
The employer must:
1. be a nonprofit organization or a private sector company;
2. be based in Canada;
3. commit to paying at least the minimum wage to interns during the duration of the AIT experience (copies of the interns’ first and last pay stubs will be required);
4. adhere to all federal and provincial laws and regulations regarding human rights and labor, as well as all other relevant standards, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and labor standards laws;
5. ensure coverage of interns by the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) or other workplace insurance, as applicable;
6. not seek grants for paid interns who are subsidized by the federal government under another federal funding program.
Ineligible Employers:
1. Federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal governments and related organizations, such as educational institutions, hospitals, etc.;
2. Financial sector companies;
3. Members of the House of Commons and the Senate;
4. Organizations engaged in partisan political activities.
5. The employer may not submit a grant application in cases of actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest.
To be eligible, the intern must meet all of the following criteria:
1. Enrolled in a professional, college, or university-level training program at an accredited Canadian educational institution (vocational training center, college, CEGEP, or university) that includes a mandatory or optional AIT experience;
2. A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status under the law;
3. Legally authorized to work in Canada according to the laws and regulations of the province or territory where they reside.
