Continuing Care Capital Program: Small Care Home Stream

The Continuing Care Capital Program provides grant funding to not-for-profit and for-profit organizations, housing management bodies, and municipalities to increase continuing care spaces in Alberta.

Deadline: Applications are closed. Stay tuned for future intake announcements. The previous deadline was on November 30, 2023.

Applicants must:

  • be developing standalone homes that would house 4 to 14 residents;
  • be not-for-profit organizations;
  • be for-profit organizations;
  • be housing management bodies;
  • be municipalities;
  • demonstrate they:
    a) will be financially viable and operationally sustainable;
    b) will support Albertans with health care needs in either long-term care, designated supportive living, or licensed supportive living settings;
    c) are in alignment with Alberta Health Services’ capacity needs for identified populations and communities;
    d) are compliant with the maximum resident accommodation charges set by government and legislated service requirements;
    e) have operational funding sources for accommodation and care.

Eligible applicants may apply to the program starting April 25, 2023. The application submission closing date is 4:30 pm on November 30, 2023.

There are also another 2 streams:
1. The first intake of the Indigenous Stream grants closed in December 2021. Alberta Health is working to complete final steps of the process. A second intake of grant applications for Indigenous groups is expected later this year.
2. The Modernization Stream's grant intake for applications closed on January 6, 2023. Alberta Health is reviewing applications and will notify applicants once the results have been determined.
