Description:

The Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP) offers funding that may cover up to 100% of eligible expenses to support producers in their ability to implement and maintain projects over a three-year term.

Comments on Funding:

The program offers funding that is calculated to cover most of the applicant’s implementation cost and may also pay an opportunity cost. Additionally, applications will be evaluated based on project size, carbon sequestration improvement, number of livestock impacted, and water quality and biodiversity enhancement, which may result in an impact adjustment payment (impact adjustment payments will vary based on the minister’s discretion).

The program funding maximums are:
$150,000 – active primary producers
$300,000 – Grazing Reserve Associations/operators of a Community Pasture, or an approved Indigenous applicant

The minimum payment under the program is $2,000.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:

1. Primary producer: an individual, a corporation registered in Alberta, a post-secondary institution, or an applied research/forage association that is:
a. responsible for the day-to-day management of an agricultural operation (such as an annual crop, bee, or livestock operation) in Alberta that produces at least $25,000 worth of farm commodities annually
b. responsible for input costs for that operation
c. not a landlord whose only interest in the operation is ownership
2. Grazing Reserve Association
3. Operator of a Community Pasture
4. Approved Indigenous applicants

Documentation Needed:

Applicants musy submit:

1. a completed Program Application Form with all documents required to be submitted pursuant
to that form, including a signed Applicant Declaration;
2. either:
a. a copy of the Applicant’s EFP Approval in respect of the Project Land that is valid and current as of the date of the Application; or
b if the Applicant does not have a valid and current EFP Approval, confirmation by the Applicant that it will obtain an EFP Approval and provide it with the final report; and
3. all supplementary documentation requested by the Minister
