Description:

The BMO Launch Me Competition was created to support students and recent grads with seed funding to get their venture ideas off the ground. Contestants with the overall strongest business plan and pitch will have the opportunity to win a portion of funding for their startups.
The funds will be distributed in three categories:
1. BMO Women Innovators Competition: For women-identifying entrepreneurs;
2. BMO Groundbreaker Competition: For all current students;
3. BMO New Graduate Startup Competition: For Humber graduates (within ~2 years graduation).

Comments on Funding:

Seed funding of up to $15,000 (highest cash prize) could seriously impact the winner’s venture development.
In total, students and alumni have the opportunity to win a portion of $130,000 in funding for their startups!

Deadline:

Applications are closed. Stay tuned for future intake announcements.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
1. have identified a business idea and must be in the ideation or startup phase;
2. be open to exploring and changing as they work through the program;
3. be serious about pursuing this business and be committed to completing the program;
4. be Humber Students or alumni within ~2 years of graduation;
5. complete the BMO Launch Me Program and attend all workshops to be eligible to compete.

Application Steps:

Applicants must/will:
1. attend BMO Launch Me Information Session (Optional);
2. register to attend the BMO Launch workshops;
3. apply learning gained in the workshops to create your business plan;
4. complete business plan and submit it to participate in the BMO Launch Me Competition (Competition applications open Nov 28 – Jan. 21);
5. attend an optional Q&A session;

6. Competition applications are reviewed by a panel of experts to select finalists;
7. Finalists selected will be communicated with in the first week of February;
8. Attend an optional business pitch workshop to prepare for the live pitch;
9. Finalists selected will pitch their ideas live in the BMO Launch Me Competition on March 21, 2024;
10. Winners are announced at the end of the BMO Launch Me Competition on March 21, 2024.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must:
1. Submit a two minute video explaining:
a) a little about the entrepreneur;
b) what is the applicant’s business, venture or idea,
c) why are they interested in participating in the BMO Launch Me program and competition.
2. Apply for the BMO Launch Me competition by submitting and filling out an application and business plan template.

The BMO Launch Me Program is designed to help students and recent alumni prepare for success in the BMO Launch Me competition. Complete a series of skill building workshops to prepare your business idea for launch, and submit your work for a chance to win funds. The first round of the competition is a business plan submission. Chosen finalists will move on to the finals with a five minute pitch to a panel of judges.
