The Experience Matters! Program provides BC employers assistance with labour force needs through training, job placement, and a negotiated wage subsidy of up to $2,800 to hire experienced eligible workers aged 55 and over.

Comments on Funding:

Employers that hire and train eligible workers 55+ and provide full time sustainable employment are eligible for a negotiated Wage Subsidy incentive up to $2800.

Deadline: -

Employers must:

  • have newly hired workers aged 55 or older;
  • be in operation for at least one year;
  • be in good standing with WorkSafeBC;
  • employ an eligible worker aged 55 or older for a minimum of 3 months;
  • Employers will NOT qualify if the employee is hired prior to signing Experience Matters Funding Agreement.
    Worker 55+ must meet the following criteria:
  • Aged 55 or older;
  • Unemployed or Precariously employed (working unstable or irregular hours (such as casual labour or on-call work), working for unreliable wages (such as piece-work or commission) and/or working for earnings that cannot support an individual or their family;
  • Seeking long-term employment;
  • Not a full-time student (i.e., enrolled in high school or in post-secondary training);
  • Not actively participating in another provincially or federally funded labour market program (excluding WorkBC);
  • Resident of BC (living in BC as a Canadian, a permanent resident or a protected person) and legally entitled
