Potential for financial returns
We take into consideration the strength and experience of a fund’s management team, differentiated investment strategy, track record, and/or other factors indicating high potential for financial returns.
Alignment to to Growth Sectors
We work with funds investing in any innovation sector, while prioritizing key target sectors in B.C. as guided by the Province’s Look West strategy as having high economic potential.
Strong Connections to BC
We invest in funds committed to investing in B.C. companies, and with notable deal flow and decision-makers based in B.C.
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks
We assess a fund’s ESG practices and policies (or roadmap to developing ESG practices and policies) within its portfolio, including diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
How does InBC define “a strong connection to B.C.”?
We assess each investment’s connection to B.C. based on but not limited to the following:
- Location of headquarter and/or offices in B.C.
- Proportion of decision-makers and management team based in B.C.
- Percentage of investment and deal flow, revenue, employees and/or infrastructure in B.C.

We work with funds that invest across all growth stages, including those supporting pre-seed/seed stage companies.

We can work with funds for up to, but not necessarily, seven to 10 years. Expected timelines are tailored to each fund.

We’re here to build a vibrant investing ecosystem. We look for meaningful partnerships with opportunities for co-investment and deal-flow sharing.
Does InBC offer Simple Agreements for Future Equity (SAFEs)?
InBC does not offer SAFEs. We typically invest via equity or convertible note but tailor our investments on a case-by-case basis.
