Description:

The B.C. Land Matching Program (BCLMP) provides land matching and business support services to new farmers looking for land to farm as well as landowners interested in finding someone to farm their land.
The benefits of land matching are hands on, personalized support services to new farmers and landowners to better understand regulations, evaluate opportunities, access resources, and ultimately find a land match partner.  The program is administered by the Young Agrarians and addresses the significant barrier to land access for those seeking to enter the B.C. agriculture industry.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:
1. farmers seeking land to start or expand their agricultural business;
2. landholders looking for someone to farm their land;
3. farmers and farmland holders who matched independently and want support to develop agreements.

Application Steps:

Applicants must:

1. reach out to the land master to get started, connect through land@youngagrarians.org;
2. Land matchers will follow up with a site visit for landholders, or further meetings with farmers, to register you for the program;
3. Land matchers will provide hands-on, personalized matchmaking to make introductions and help landholders and land seekers find the most suitable match for their vision and needs;
4. Once applicants have found a match, or if they meet someone independently of the BCLMP, land matchers will facilitate negotiations and help develop a land use agreement.

2. expectations from a land match, and vision. Land matchers will help them evaluate their land for agricultural viability.

For Farmers:

2. business plan
3. land search.
