Description:

The Capital Assets – Processing Equipment funding stream supports the growth and expansion of Manitoba’s agri-processing sector by assisting with capital investment purchases for modernization activities that enhance efficiency, productivity and environmental sustainability.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is a contribution of maximum $2.5 million per project with a cost share ratio of 50% government and 50% applicant on the first $50,000, then on a 10% government and 90% applicant cost share per dollar thereafter.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:
1. agri-food processors;
2. agri-product processors;
3. licensed commercial kitchens;
4. primary producers;
5. Indigenous Government/Indigenous individuals, businesses, communities, and organizations, other Indigenous groups undertaking agricultural initiatives;
6. wholesalers (food, ingredients);
7. abattoirs.

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. submit the Applicant Information Forms and Application Worksheets to the
program administrator no later than the deadline.
2. email the completed forms and required documentation
to Manitoba Agriculture at agriculture@gov.mb.ca.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit the completed Application Worksheets which includes:
1. Project description;
2. Project deliverables and outcomes;
3. Alignment with Manitoba government objectives, such as:
a) the creation of new jobs or increased payroll value;
b) an incremental increase in processing value and volume;
c) an increase in the use of Manitoba agri-inputs;
d) the production of goods that displaces imports from outside Canada;
e) an increase in exports;
f) an increase in the value or volume of production of animal or plant-based
proteins.
4. Capital and financial capacity;
5. Management capacity;
6. Market plan.
