Description:

This program offers funding to employers to offset the cost of training employees.

Comments on Funding:

Funding takes the form of grants. The assistance provided will not exceed a total value of $13,000 per individual client, per 52 weeks.

Eligibility:

Eligible Employers must:
1. be registered businesses that have been in operation for a minimum of six months and be licensed to operate in the Northwest Territories, and registered with the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission of the Northwest Territories (WSCC).
2. be industry associations;
3. be local housing authorities;
4. be non-government organizations;
5. be Indigenous organizations;
6. be local, municipal, or Indigenous governments.
7. not be Federal and territorial government agencies (including Crown Corporations) are not eligible employers;
8. have a supervisor identified for the eligible participants;
9. Preference will be given to employers who are eligible under the GNWT Business Incentive Policy (BIP)
Eligible Clients must:
1. be of school leaving age (16 years or older);
2. be residing in the Northwest Territories, and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or be a protected person, as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, who is entitled to work in Canada.

Application Steps:

Applicants must contact their regional ECE service centre.

Documentation Needed:

1. Employers need to submit an Employee Development Plan, then provide information on the trainer and the training to be supported.
2. The employee must complete and sign an application for service form and submit their resume.

Other Things to Note:

There is no deadline. This program can be accessed at any time.
