Description:

This program offers a grant to encourage the purchase and installation of a solar air preheating system for space heating. By preheating the air supply to a ventilation system, significant savings can be achieved on the consumption of natural gas needed to heat the fresh air. Highly efficient, a solar air preheating system produces free and renewable energy and helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Comments on Funding:

1. The financial assistance is $2 per cubic metre of natural gas saved.
2. The maximum amount of financial assistance is $200,000.
3. The amount of financial assistance accorded may not be more than 75% of the eligible investment costs.
4. Lastly, an adjustment factor of 0.6 will apply to the gross savings from perforated glazed collectors on a brick base to take into account the effect of the heat accumulated by the bricks in buildings where the principal activity is limited to one shift per day.

Requests for less than $5,000 are not eligible.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:
1. current and about-to-be Énergir customers;
2. in one of the targeted activity sectors:
a) commercial sector;
b) multi-housing building with four or more units;
c) institutional sector;
d) industrial sector.

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. refer to the current Participant Guide for detailed information on the program;
2. submit their admissibility request, RETScreen simulation files and the detailed schematics of the solar preheating system to efficaciteenergetique@energir.com for analysis.
3. receive an admissibility or refusal memo from Énergir.
4. purchase and install the solar preheating system, then send their supporting documentation and the request for payment;
5. receive their grant.
