Description:

Through its Building Optimization Program, Efficiency Nova Scotia offers technical assistance, financial incentives, and financing to offset the cost of engineering studies, energy efficient equipment, and installation for customized projects.

Comments on Funding:

Funding takes the form of a grant, and a loan:
1. Funding available to cover 100% of the cost (up to $5,000) of an Investigation Study.
2. Implementation Incentive of up to 75% of eligible project cost.
3. A zero interest on the on-the-bill financing of eligible cost for qualified Building Optimization projects in the case where only financing is chosen.

4. In the case where the customer receives financing and an incentive to complete the project, the implementation incentive will deduct respective financing costs.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
1. own or supervise an institutional, charitable, commercial, or industrial facility served (directly or indirectly) by NSPI;
2. have a minimum facility annual electrical consumption of 350,000 kWh;
3. have facilities with a functioning Building Automation System (BAS);

4. Facility cannot have been recommissioned in the part three years;
5. Projects must be pre-approved to be eligible for incentive funding

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. work with a qualified consultant to complete an investigation study to identify the low-cost opportunities in their building;
2. speak to an Energy Solutions Advisor about their building by completing the contact form or calling 1-877-999-6035.

Documentation Needed:

For the Investigation Study, applicants must provide the following:
1. Summary of electrical energy and demands savings per measure;
2. Project Timelines;
3. Financial Summary per measure;
4. Detailed measurement and verification plan;
5. Other necessary supporting documentation as listed.
