Efficiency Nova Scotia Commercial New Construction Program
$15,000.00
Grant, Rebate
Description:
The Commercial New Construction Program provides support for whole-building energy modeling as a design tool and offers incentives to help offset the capital cost of efficient construction.
Comments on Funding:
Funding takes the form of a grant, and a rebate:
1. Eligible projects receive a modeling incentive of up to $15,000, applied to consultant fees.
2. The NC Program provides an Implementation Incentive to help offset the capital costs of efficient technologies. The implementation incentive rate ranges from $0.13 to $0.18 per kWh, determined based on the building’s total energy savings.
Continuous Intake
Eligibility:
Applicants must have commercial, institutional, or multi-unit residential building new construction projects, that meet these criteria:
1. Project must be in design phase (pre-construction);
2. Total conditioned area must be at least 15,000 ft²;
3. Project must be located in Nova Scotia and save electrical energy;
4. Project must be defined as one of the following:
a) A new structure;
b) An addition to an existing structure;
c) A major renovation of a building 15,000 ft² (1,394 m²) or greater;
4. Project must implement at least two energy efficient measures;
5. Project must achieve a reduction in total building energy consumption of at least 25% and at least 100,000 kWh of electricity savings.
Application Steps:
For application details, applicants must complete the online form or call 1-877-999-6035 to talk to an Energy Solutions Advisor.
Documentation Needed:
Applicants must submit:
1. the completed Energy Model submission package (before above-grade construction begins), including:
a) Initial Energy Model Simulation files;
b) Architectural and mechanical drawings;
c) Supporting calculations (must include effected R value calculations).
2. the completed As-Built submission package (upon completion of the construction);
3. additional documents as requested.
