ENCQOR 5G Demonstration Program

Description:

The ENCQOR 5G Demonstration Program supports standalone SME projects and SME collaborations with industry partners and/or public sector organizations such as municipalities, healthcare facilities, public utilities for testing and validation activities using the ENCQOR 5G Innovation Platform as a Service (iPaaS) testbed in order to develop or advance new technologies, products, processes and services.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is 50% (maximum) of total eligible project costs, up to $50,000.
The applicant’s contribution is minimum 50% of total eligible project costs.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
1. be Innovation-Driven Enterprises (IDE), using or developing technology innovation or innovative processes for competitive advantage in provincial, national and/or global markets;
2. be for-profit, incorporated in Ontario or Canada, and have a valid CRA business number;
3. be a small-to-medium size enterprise (SME – less than 500 employees in Ontario), with a validated innovative product/service;
4. have operations with R&D and/or manufacturing in Ontario related to the project;
5. have 50% or more of its full-time employees located as their ordinary place of work in Ontario;
6. have the intent and potential to apply, exploit and/or commercialize the results of the project for the economic benefit of Ontario;
7. have the necessary expertise and resources to put the project into effect within an appropriate time frame;
8. be in good financial and reporting standing with OCE.

Companies with over $500,000 of OCE funding in their lifetime (inclusive of current application), will be required to obtain OCE approval before a new application for funding is initiated.
Awardees MUST agree to cooperate with OCE in the development of case studies [a requirement of the program].

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. submit the online information to start the application process,
2. be contacted within 2 business days by a Business Development Manager (BDM) to discuss further details,
3. complete the online application form using the link received from the BDM (AccessOCI – the online application system) and upload the required supporting,
4. request their BDM to provide an endorsement of the application.

Applicants must submit:
1. Resumes/CVs from relevant team members,
2. letter/s of support from strategic partner company (to be included only if a Strategic Partner is engaged with the project),
3. company profile from strategic partner company (to be included only if a Strategic Partner is engaged with the project).

Other Things to Note:

1. Ontario Centers of Excellence (OCE) changed name to Ontario Centers of Innovation (OCI).
2. Program Status: Closed for Applications.
