Description:

IESO’s Grid Innovation Fund advances innovative opportunities to achieve electricity bill savings for Ontario ratepayers by funding projects that either enable customers to better manage their energy consumption or that reduce the costs associated with maintaining reliable operation of the province’s grid. It provides financial support for innovative energy projects across Ontario. It invests in projects no more than three years in length, and funds up to a specified percentage of project costs, depending on project type.

Applicants:
1. must be non-profit and for-profit incorporated entities, excluding incorporated individuals and sole proprietorships,
2. can be: local hydro companies, technology companies, consulting firms, industry associations, educational institutions, public sector organizations, and others.

Application Steps:

Applicants must submit a completed Project Overview Application to gridinnovationfund@ieso.ca during an intake window.

1. The IESO will not be holding a 2021 open intake for proposals. The 2021 Targeted call will be taking place later this year, with a focus on enabling resources. More information can be found on the Targeted call for Proposals page.
2. The intake window for the 2021 Joint Targeted Call was open November 1, 2021 – November 30, 2021.
3. No information about 2022 yet.
