Description:
Racialized and Indigenous Supports for Entrepreneurs (R.A.I.S.E.) is a service and grant program developed and administered by the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA), the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA) and in partnership with the Parkdale Centre for Innovation (PCI) to support Indigenous, Black and other Racialized entrepreneurs in Ontario to start and scale a business. R.A.I.S.E. will provide access to business development training, culturally responsive support services and access to grant funding.

Funding will take the form of non-repayable grants of up to $10,000.

Eligibility:
The applicant must: 1. be a registered business in Ontario and/or be incorporated;
2. be employing 1-10 full time equivalent employees equivalent including sole proprietorship, and up to 25 employees for businesses in the hospitality sector;
3. not be a franchise, including those individually owned and operated;
4. not be a wholesaler or manufacturer;
5. not be a not-for-profit or charitable organization;
6. be owned by an indigenous, black or racialized individual who is:
a) 18 years of age or older;
b) a Canadian citizen or permanent resident currently living and operating their business in Ontario;
7. have completed the application process, which includes:
a) initial application;
b) online training;
c) 2 to 10 hours of business coaching;
d) completed business transformation plan.

Documentation Needed:
Applicants must submit:
1. a final report;
2. all supporting expense receipts/documentation.
Other Things to Note:
May 2024: This program is now delivered by the Province of Ontario. The previous deadline was on December 8, 2023.
