Description:

The Screenwriters Development Fund (SDF) will consider investment in scriptwriting costs for film and TV projects which achieve the following objectives:
1. support the creation and development of film and TV script projects by Nova Scotian filmmakers;
2. strengthen the film and TV industry by developing Nova filmmakers, writers, and producers;
3. advance diversity, inclusion, and gender parity.

Comments on Funding:

The funding will not exceed 50% of eligible costs and normally not exceed a maximum of $20,000.

Deadline:

June 21, 2024 October 18, 2024

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
1. be Nova Scotia Producers/Production companies;
2. propose projects which have a Nova Scotia producer (whose production company is registered in Nova Scotia) and a Nova Scotia writer (who has maintained their primary residence in Nova Scotia for at least 12 months prior to the application submission date).

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. contact the program officer to discuss the project and the application requirements before applying;
2. submit the application and the supporting documentation via email to creativeindustries@novascotia.ca by 4pm on the application deadline;
3. submit a separate application for each project.

Applicants must submit:
1. the application form;
2. a proposal;
3. a detailed budget;
4. supplementary material.

Other Things to Note:

The fund is open for applications 2 times per year.
