The Startup Grant Program is meant to help startup companies transition from temporary spaces to more permanent office spaces in downtown Kitchener. This program also helps property owners lease out their vacant or underused building spaces to local companies.

Eligibility:
The City of Kitchener only considers applications that fit these criteria:
1. in buildings with second stories and above zoned for commercial use;
2. startups endorsed by a program partner;
3. properties located within the Downtown Community Improvement Area;
4. applications must satisfy our urban design and King Street façade guidelines;
5. other eligibility criteria as they may apply.
Application Steps:
1. Applicants must set up a pre-application meeting.
2. All successful grant applications will be subject to the terms and conditions of our Downtown Community Improvement Plan.
