Description:

The Strategic Innovation and Expansion Pilot provides funding to organizations to develop a workforce plan and strategies for effective human resource capacity building. Through this funding organizations will build internal capacity for human resource planning and include international recruitment along with innovative approaches to resolve workforce shortages. The Strategic Innovation and Expansion Pilot will have two areas of focus and provide two pathways in which organizations can submit their proposals for funding:
1. Immigrate to Opportunity Pathway: Activities under this pathway will create new opportunities for international recruitment in partnership with the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism, while creating champions of change and growth within the targeted sector.
2. Innovate to Opportunity Pathway: Activities under this pathway will create new opportunities for innovation and growth through research and development of strategic approaches to human resource planning.

Comments on Funding:

Funding of up to a maximum of $100,000 (for a period of one year) may be provided to cover wages and employment costs, training supports, travel, and administrative costs.

Deadline:

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
1. be businesses and organizations;
2. be operating for a minimum of two years;
3. be in good standing with the registry of Companies and Deeds Online (cado), if incorporated;
4. have a Canada revenue agency business number;
5. have a certificate of clearance from WorkPlaceNL;
6. have a labour standards clearance certificate from the labour standards division;
7. have an office location/base in Newfoundland and Labrador;
8. be based within one of the following five sectors:
a) health care and social assistance;
b) resource development/management;
c) retail trade;
d) accommodation and food services; and
e) skilled and semi-skilled trades (e.g., construction).

Application Steps:

The applicant must:

2. register as a Government Vendor;
3. register in the Labour Market Programs Support System (LaMPSS);
4. complete and submit an Online Application along with their written proposal in LaMPSS.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit:
1. an application form;
2. a detailed project description;
3. itemized budget breakdown.
