Description:
The Waste Reduction and Recycling Initiative provides up to $50,000 in financial assistance to NWT-based municipalities, Indigenous governments and organizations, schools, non-profit organizations, businesses, and individuals to complete projects supporting one or more of the following goals:
1. reduce the amount of waste generated in our communities;
2. reuse materials and products, rather than discard them;
3. recycle materials that are not already collected through a NWT recycling program;
4. raise awareness about the importance of reducing waste and encourage environmental stewardship of waste resources;
5. reclaim (or repurpose) waste.
Comments on Funding:
Funding takes the form of non-repayable contributions of up to $50,000.

Eligibility:
Applicants must be:
1. NWT-based municipalities;
2. Indigenous governments and organizations;
3. schools;
4. non-profit organizations;
5. businesses; and
6. individuals.
Application Steps:
If applicants are requesting less than $10,000, they must:
1. review the program guidelines;
2. fill out the application form for projects under $10,000;
3. email it to wrri-irrd@gov.nt.ca.
If applicants are requesting more than $10,000, they must:
1. review the program guidelines;
2. use the application form for projects over $10,000. Use the project plan and budget template to complete it;
3. email it to wrri-irrd@gov.nt.ca
