Description:

Through the Innovative Solutions Canada program, the Government of Canda is partnering with eligible Canadian small businesses and facilitating the early development, testing and validation of prototypes, as well as preparing a pathway to commercialization. The Government of Canada is looking for innovators to solve challenges.

Comments on Funding:

Businesses can receive up to $150,000 in support to develop a proof of concept and up to $1 million in support to develop a prototype.
Funding amounts are mentioned in each individual challenge.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
1. be small businesses,
2. be for profit and incorporated in Canada (federally or provincially)
3. have 499 or fewer full-time equivalent (FTE) employees,
4. be doing research and development activities that take place in Canada,
5. have 50% or more of its annual wages, salaries and fees currently paid to employees and contractors who spend the majority of their time working in Canada,
6. have 50% or more of its FTE employees with Canada as their ordinary place of work,
7. have 50% or more of its senior executives (Vice President and above) with their principal residence in Canada.

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. review the eligibility criteria and current challenges;
2. create their profile and begin proposing solutions using the “Propose a Solution” button;
3. develop a proof of concept if selected for funding.
