Species At Risk: Keep Grazing Program

MHHC is partnering with Manitoba Beef Producers, Manitoba Agriculture and Environment and Climate Change Canada to provide farmers with new opportunities, and funding, to create and enhance species at risk habitat on their lands. 

Comments on Funding:

Funding takes the form of grants. Cost-shared incentives will be funded up to $13,000 per quarter-section, to a max of $50,000 per landowner.

Deadline: -

Applicants must:

  • be landowners;
  • be farmers;
  • conserve and enhance habitat for Species at Risk (SAR) in Manitoba.

Other Things to Note:

Some examples of the incentives and/or services for which funds could be used are:
1. Fencing that supports improved grazing,
2. Watering systems designed to improve cattle distribution,
3. Management of woody, invasive plants encroaching on grasslands (shrubbing),
4. Established additional pastures that help to relieve grazing pressure on native rangelands,
5. Native pasture establishment.
