Sustainable Agriculture Manitoba (SAM): Manure and Livestock Management

Sustainable Agriculture Manitoba (SAM) provides funding to farmers and land managers to implement cost-shared beneficial management practices (BMPs) that increase the environmental and economic sustainability of agriculture operations in Manitoba. The Manure and Livestock Management provides funding to support the adoption of practices that improve livestock performance and manure management.

Comments on Funding:

Funding takes the form of contributions ranging from from $85,000 to $855,000 with a 50% government and 50% applicant cost share ratio for most project activities.

Deadline: Applications are closed. Stay tuned for future intake announcements.

Applicants must be:

  • primary producers that:
    a) have a valid Statement of Completion for an Environmental Farm Plan;
    b) manage agricultural land used to produce agricultural products;
    c) own land where the project will be executed or have permission from the landowner to execute the project;
    d) have a Manitoba Premises Identification Number (livestock producers only).
    Applicants can be located outside of Manitoba if the project activities have a positive outcome for Manitoba and if they have a valid EFP from their province of residence.

2. The intake for this program is currently open, funding requests will be accepted from April 28, 2023 to 11:59 pm on June 13, 2023.
