Description:

The Market Development program is designed to advance the agriculture, agri-food and agri-product sector’s innovation and business capacity to maintain existing markets and capture emerging market opportunities. The program will provide financial assistance to eligible recipients for market development activities that enhance the export capacity of individual businesses and improve overall domestic and international access for the sector.

Comments on Funding:

A cost share ratio of 50% government and 50% applicant to a maximum contribution of $30,000 per applicant per intake.

Deadline:

Applications are closed. Stay tuned for future intake announcements.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:
1. primary producers;
2. agri-food processors;
3. agri-product processors;
4. abattoirs;
5. brand owners;
6. Indigenous Government/Indigenous individuals, businesses, communities, and organizations, other Indigenous groups undertaking agricultural initiatives.

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. submit the Applicant Information Forms and Application Worksheets to the program administrator no later than the deadline.
2. email the completed forms and required documentation
to Manitoba Agriculture at agriculture@gov.mb.ca.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit the completed Application Worksheets which includes:
1. Project description;
2. Project deliverables and outcomes;
3. Alignment with Manitoba government objectives, such as:
a) the creation of new jobs or increased payroll value;
b) an incremental increase in processing value and volume;
c) an increase in the use of Manitoba agri-inputs;
d) the production of goods that displaces imports from outside Canada;
e) an increase in exports;
f) an increase in the value or volume of production of animal or plant-based
proteins.
4. Capital and financial capacity;
5. Production capacity;
6. Management capacity;
7. Market plan.

1. This program is part of the Sustainable Canadian Agriculture Partnership.
