Manitoba Music: Produce Out of Province Program

Description:

The Produce – Out-of-Province Artists program is designed to encourage non-Manitoban artists to travel to the province to utilize local recording studios, producers and recording professionals. It is also intended to increase business and experience for Manitoba music recording industry professionals.

Comments on Funding:

Grant can be classified as level 1 or level 2:
1. Demo or Commercial Release: Applicants may apply to record a
minimum of one (1) song.
a. Demo: Production support is
available up to 75% of the total approved budget, to a maximum of $2,000.
b. Commercial release: Production support is available up to 75% of the total approved budget, to a maximum of $3,000.
2. EP or Full length Album: To encourage the production of recordings of five (5) or more songs by individual non-Manitoba recording artists or groups to be released for sale through any and all media. Manitoba Film & Music’s contribution will be in the form of a grant and may be up to 50% of a project’s total budget, to a maximum of $10,000.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:
1. Manitoba residents operating under a registered business name or as an incorporated entity in the music recording industry. A Manitoba resident means an individual who is legally entitled to be and remain in Canada, is currently a resident of Manitoba and has been for not less than 1 year prior to the date of application. In the case of partnerships, a minimum of 50% of the partnership must meet this residency requirement;
2. at least 18 years of age;
3. in good standing without file overdue and/or owing money back for a previous grant.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit:
1. Final Cost Report;
2. Employment Report;
3. project promotional/publicity material with MFM logo;
4. copies of completed project with MFM logo;
5. Manitoba Music & Film Credit;
6. changes to any documentation provided at contract stage;.
7. verification of factor/other funding;
8. other documents as required.
