Description:

The Military Memorial Conservation Grant is intended to assist primarily with conservation work on existing military memorials in Manitoba, with the goal of extending the physical life and commemorative function of the memorials, and raising their profile as sites of reflection and commemoration, and as valuable cultural infrastructure in the community.

Comments on Funding:

Grant supports capital projects in several categories (listed in descending order of priority; expected percentage of available annual funding for each category is
indicated):
A. Conservation of the Memorial (60%, maximum of $25,000)
B. Conservation or Restoration of Original Historic Site Elements (20%, maximum of $25,000)
C. Inscription Updates (5%, maximum of $5,000)
D. New Infrastructure to Improve Accessibility to the Memorial (5%, maximum of $10,000)
E. New Memorials (10%, maximum of $10,000)

Deadline:

March 31, 2025

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
1. be any individual, organization, or business including local government (excluding federal and provincial), with an interest in preserving a military memorial;
2. have the authorization to carry out the proposed work given by the owner or municipality if the applicant is not the owner.
