Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP): Carbon Sequestration and Grassland Resilience – Agroforestry

Description:
The Agroforestry program provide funding to support establishment of trees and management of woodlots that provide:
– Enhanced carbon sequestration
– Reduced soil erosion
– Improved water conservation efforts
– Energy conservation
– Improved wildlife habitat
– Increased crop yields
– Thermal protection for livestock
– Reduced surface runoff and enhanced water quality
Comments on Funding:
Funding is a contribution of up to 75% of total approved eligible costs, to a maximum of $15,000 per project.

Eligibility:
Applicants must be:
1. Association of Manitoba Community Pastures;
2. Indigenous primary producers and communities, including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit;
3. Primary producers.
Application Steps:
Applicants must:
1. submit the Applicant Information Forms and Application Worksheets to the
program administrator no later than the deadline.
2. email the completed forms and required documentation
to Manitoba Agriculture at agriculture@gov.mb.ca.

1. completed Application Worksheets which includes:
2. Program Objectives and Priorities.
a) potential to mitigate and adapt to climate change;
b) potential to increase level of carbon stored in the soil and improve soil
health;
c) potential to improve biodiversity and wildlife habitat;
d) potential to reduce impacts of flooding and drought;
e) potential to reduce the risk of nutrient loss to water
3. Proposal Integrity
a) the proposal intent is described and fully explains
the environmental benefit;
b) the project has adequate design, including well-defined locations and
steps, and realistic completion timelines;
c. the budget is detailed, realistic and specific.
Other Things to Note:
1. This program is part of the Sustainable Canadian Agriculture Partnership.
2. The intake for this program is currently closed. Please check back for upcoming intake dates.
3. Projects will have eighteen months to be completed.
