Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP): Carbon Sequestration and Grassland Resilience – Grassland and Grazing Management

Description:

The Grasslands and Grazing Management program provides funding to support the enhancement of grasslands and strategies to improve grazing management.

Comments on Funding:

Funding takes the form of contributions of up to 75% of total approved eligible costs, to a maximum of $15,000 per project.

Deadline:

Applications are closed. Stay tuned for future intake announcements.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:
1. Agricultural Crown Land forage lease holder;
2. Association of Manitoba Community Pastures;
3. Indigenous primary producers and communities, including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit;
4. Primary producers;
5. Meet all regulatory requirements including:
a. a Water Rights License from the Province of Manitoba
b. approvals from the municipality or Crown
c. any other standards or approvals as required by law

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. submit the Applicant Information Forms and Application Worksheets to the
program administrator no later than the deadline.
2. email the completed forms and required documentation
to Manitoba Agriculture at agriculture@gov.mb.ca.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit the completed Application Worksheets which includes:
1. Program Objectives and Priorities.
a) potential to mitigate and adapt to climate change;
b) potential to increase level of carbon stored in the soil and improve soil
health;
c) potential to improve biodiversity and wildlife habitat;
d) potential to reduce impacts of flooding and drought;
e) potential to reduce the risk of nutrient loss to water
2. Proposal Integrity
a) the proposal intent is described and fully explains
the environmental benefit;
b) the project has adequate design, including well-defined locations and
steps, and realistic completion timelines;
c. the budget is detailed, realistic and specific.

Other Things to Note:

1. This program is part of the Sustainable Canadian Agriculture Partnership.
2. The intake for this program is currently closed. Please check back for upcoming intake dates.
3. Projects will have eighteen months to be completed.
