Description:

Sustainable Agriculture Manitoba (SAM) provides funding to farmers and land managers to implement cost-shared beneficial management practices (BMPs) that increase the environmental and economic sustainability of agriculture operations in Manitoba. The Water Management provides funding to support the adoption of practices that enhance the supply, efficient use, quality and management of water.

Comments on Funding:

The total Canadian government funding stacking limit is 75% of the total approved eligible costs. Under Water Management funding stream, the following BMPs have the corresponding overall cap:

1. Increased Irrigation Efficiency: $95,000 at 30:70 government/applicant cost share ratio
2. Sub-Surface Drainage Water Management: $105,000 at 30:70 government/applicant cost share ratio
3. Water Use Efficiency: $55,000 at 50:50 government/applicant cost share ratio
4. Water Supply: $15,000 at 50:50 government/applicant cost share ratio

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

1. Primary Producers that:
a) have a valid Statement of Completion for an Environmental Farm Plan
b) manage agricultural land used to produce agricultural products.
c) own land where the project will be executed or have permission from the
landowner to execute the project.
d) have a Manitoba Premises Identification number (livestock producers only)
e) located outside of Manitoba if the project activities have a positive outcome
for Manitoba and if they have a valid EFP from their province of residence.
i. Priority will be given to eligible applicants who own/manage agriculture land in Manitoba.

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. submit the Applicant Information Forms and Application Worksheets to the
program administrator no later than the deadline.
2. email the completed forms and required documentation
to Manitoba Agriculture at agriculture@gov.mb.ca.
