How do I know if I am eligible to participate?
Commercial or institutional buildings classified under the General Service 1 (GS1) or General Service 2 (GS2) Rate schedule as per NB Power’s Rate Schedules and Policies are eligible. Non-NB Power customers are also eligible to participate but must be in a similar rate schedule or customer class as listed above.
Agricultural buildings (registered farms), places of worship (churches, mosques & synagogues), and multi-unit residential buildings that have 3 or more units are also eligible to participate.
I am a contractor and I am doing some of the recommended upgrades myself, can I still get an incentive for that?
Yes, you are eligible for incentives. Your invoices for materials purchased are required when you send in the Request for Payment.
Important:
You cannot begin any project work prior to receiving approval of the Statement of Work from NB Power. You have 18 months from the date you sign the Program Agreement to complete your projects.
About the funding
Up to $8,000 towards an audit to determine the potential for energy efficiency upgrades in a commercial building; and up to $1.25 million towards the implementation of the energy efficiency upgrades chosen.
- Complete one or more recommended upgrades and receive up to 100% back on energy audit or feasibility study costs.
- Eligible electricity-saving projects qualify for incentives of $120 per GJ saved up to $250,000 per fiscal year.
- Get 25% back on non-electric upgrades. These funds are available until depleted on a first come, first serve basis and are capped at $1 Million per entity.

Up to 50% of energy audit costs to a maximum of $1,100 | Up to 50% of energy audit costs to a maximum of $2,200 | Up to 50% of energy audit costs to a maximum of $3,300
- 50% of energy audit costs up to maximum shown will be provided prior to completing any energy efficiency measures. The remaining value (up to 100%) will be paid at the time of project completion of 1 or more measures.
** Feasibility study incentives of 100% of the costs up to a maximum amount based on the building class will be paid with the completion of the proposed energy efficiency measure only.

Electricity saving projects; UPGRADE INCENTIVES: Up to $250,000 ($120/GJ saved, based on the estimated annual energy savings, as determined by the energy audit/feasibility study
Non-electric fuel saving projects (propane, natural gas, oil, etc.); UPGRADE INCENTIVES: Up to $1 Million (25% of eligible project costs that reduce greenhouse gas emissions). Available until funds are depleted.
Once NB Power has approved your Request for Payment, the incentive for your energy efficient upgrades will be issued within 60 days of NB Power approving the claim and invoices.
