Description:

The Grants to Individual Artists aims to support the artistic development of individual artists, to support arts organizations in fulfilling their mandates, to contribute to the grown and sustainability of the St. John’s arts community, to improve the well-being of the community.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be individual artists in the following disciplines:
1. Theatre
2. Dance
3. Music
4. Literary arts
5. Film and new media
6. Visual art and craft

Application Steps:

Applicants must:

1. Fill out the Individual Artists Application (fillable PDF form) and email the completed form to:
citygrants@stjohns.ca
Subject line: “City GrantsIndividual Artists”
Emails including all attachments
must not exceed 25MB.
Acceptable file formats are: pdf,
docx, xlsx, jpg, png, mp3, wav,
mp4, mpeg, mov, zip.

2. If you have previously received a grant from the City of St. John’s, you must complete a final report form prior to being eligible for a new grant.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit:
1. Detailed project description (maximum 2 pages): Clearly address all assessment criteria (see
Community Services Grants Policy and Procedures documents).
2. Detailed balanced project budget. Clearly show revenues and expenses, including your
request to the City. Indicate all sources of revenue as either confirmed or pending.
3. Resumé or C.V. as it relates to your development as an artist.
4. First-time applicants only: two letters of reference. Referees should have expertise in the
specified discipline, should be familiar with you and your work, and should be briefed about the
specific project for which you are seeking support. Letters of reference should offer an
informed artistic assessment of your project and your ability to complete it.
