Description:

The takeCHARGE Business Efficiency Program provides support to businesses to make energy-efficient improvements to their business. It provides rebates on upgrades to their heating and cooling, refrigeration, lighting, and more.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is in the form of energy rebates, with an average rebate of $5,000 and a maximum rebate of $50,000.

Additionally, takeCHARGE may fund:
1. 50% of the cost of the audit, to a maximum of $3,000. A funding application must be pre-approved by takeCHARGE to get funding support.
2. 75% of the eligible costs of the feasibility study up to a maximum of $5,000. A funding application must be pre-approved by takeCHARGE to get funding support. Customers are encouraged to seek other sources of funding.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
1. be Newfoundland and Labrador-based businesses,
2. make energy-efficient improvements (heating and cooling, refrigeration, lighting, and more).

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. ask for an energy assessment of their commercial facility. This high-level assessment will be conducted by a takeCHARGE energy expert and is fully funded by takeCHARGE.
2. complete a project proposal form and return it to takeCHARGE.
3. sign the project development agreement and return it to their takeCHARGE contact. Applicants can now start their energy efficiency upgrade as outlined in the project development agreement.

After the project has been successfully implemented, project close out, measurement and verification is required. This involves quantifying energy savings and determining the final value of incentives to be paid.

1. a project proposal;
2. a signed agreement.
