Description:

The Small Business Energy Solutions program offers rebates to cover up to 80% of the project cost and other incentives for various energy efficiency upgrades.

Comments on Funding:

Funding will take the form of:
1. energy rebates to cover up to 80% of the project cost for various energy efficiency upgrades;
2. a free energy assessment;
3. a 24-months interest-free financing on the applicant’s Nova Scotia Power bill.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
1. Be small business customers whose annual electrical energy consumption is less than 600,000 kWh (approx. $6,000/month in electricity costs).
2. Pre-approval is required for all projects (incentives will not be paid out for products already purchased).
3. Customers are eligible to receive both rebates and interest-free on bill financing (up to 24 months).
4. New construction projects are not eligible, retrofit projects only.
5. Free energy assessments are available to eligible customers (as determined by Efficiency Nova Scotia).
6. Facility must be located within Nova Scotia.

Application Steps:

The Business Energy Rebate program provides rebates on energy efficient products to businesses of all types. Funding is available for commercial heating, commercial lighting, variable frequency drives, agriculture technologies, commercial kitchen equipment, commercial refrigeration equipment, commercial laundry equipment, pumping equipment, IT and data centers, compressed air, commercial water heating, commercial solar equipment, pool equipment. Efficiency Nova Scotia offers two types of rebates:
1. Mail-In Rebates;
2. In-Store Rebates (Instant Rebates).

Applicants must submit:
1. Commercial Rebate Pre-Approval Application 
2. All relevant Product Rebate Worksheets 
3. Quote for the upgrades 
4. Copy of your most recent electric bill
