Description:
The Limestone trucking assistance program aims to help Nova Scotia farms defray the cost of trucking limestone to give equal opportunity in neutralizing the acidity of the soil on agricultural land and improve production efficiencies.

Eligibility:
Applicants must:
1. For Farm:
a. Applicant is at least 19 years of age and actively farming in the program year;
b. Soil analysis lab report or a Nutrient Management Plan (NMP), within the last three years,
supporting a requirement for the application of limestone;
c. Properly registered in the correct income category under the Farm Registration Act.
2. Agriculture Industry Association:
a. demonstrates not-for-profit status by providing documentation; and
b. represents identifiable Nova Scotia agriculture and agri-food products.
Note: soil analysis or NMP must be submitted at the time of application
Application Steps:
Applicants must:
1. Submit a complete application by the deadline.
2. Eligible project expenses will be recognized within the Activity Period stated in the table below.
Please refrain from making purchases before receiving a Letter of Agreement from the Programs

Documentation Needed:
Applicants must submit:
1. Option 1 Claim Requirements (self-haul)
a. self identify the km’s traveled one-way, the starting location and end location
b. attach copies of all invoices for the limestone purchased
2. Option 2 Claim Requirements (delivered by a trucking company)
a. attach copies of all invoices for eligible project costs incurred and paid for by the applicant.
i. Invoices for trucking must show the KMs traveled one-way and rate per tonnes
ii. Invoices showing purchase of limestone must also be submitted
b. attach proof of payment for each trucking invoice – e-transfer confirmation, debit slips, cleared
cheques, or credit card/bank statements. (invoices marked paid and signed by the supplier are not
accepted)
