On-farm Electrical Preparedness Program

Description:
The On-farm Electrical Preparedness Program helps farms buy a backup generator and battery storage to support business continuity and preparedness for adverse weather.
Comments on Funding:
Applicants can apply for a maximum of 60% funding assistance on total eligible project costs.
Assistance for the purchase of one (1) generator will be considered per farm registrant for farm
use ONLY.

Eligibility:
Applicants must be:
1. farm or
a. be currently and properly registered in the correct income category under the Farm Registration Act
b. have generated an annual eligible gross commodity income of at least $10,000
c. be at least 19 years old and actively farming in the program year
2. Mi’kmaq conducting farming activities in a Mi’kmaw community.
Application Steps:
Applicants must
1. Submit a complete application by the deadline
2. Eligible project expenses will be recognized within the Activity Period stated in the table
below. Please refrain from making purchases before receiving a Letter of Agreement
(LOA) from the Program’s Office.
