Description:

Infrastructure Improvements Schedule supports infrastructure development and will add value to the cultural and tourism sectors. Funding is targeted towards small businesses, artist studios, municipalities, and other organizations and will support community visitor centre improvements and the installation of public art displays.

Comments on Funding:

Minimum contribution of $25,000 (for Tourist Accommodations, $50,000) and Maximum per project per annum of $100,000.

All applicants, except for Tourist Accommodations, must contribute at least 20% of the costs of any activity for which funding is provided. This may include an in-kind contribution or cash contribution.

Tourist Accommodations must contribute at least 50% of the Eligible Costs. This may not include in-kind contributions.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

1. Be Nunavut Small Businesses which are either licensed tourism outfitters licensed tourism establishments Municipalities;
2. Be an Artists or Artist Groups; and
3. Be Societies.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must:

1. Submit Project Description;
2. Submit support for the Project (including letters of support and/or demonstration of funding from other sources);
3. Submit Project Budget (including quotes from a supplier where applicable)
4. Submit Expected Outcomes;
5. Submit Projected Social and/or Economic Return on Investment; and
6. Submit additional information provided (Include as much as possible to support your application):
–Evidence of community support for the Project, including:
—integration with the overall community tourism plan;
—funding from other sources;
—contributions from the community/stakeholders (in kind or cash)
–Potential economic benefit in terms of jobs, incomes and revenue projections over a five- year period;
–For new infrastructures: architectural drawings, estimate of future operational and maintenance costs.
–For public art: indication of location, artist selected, drawings.

Eligible Activities:
–Develop new and repair/upgrade existing arts, culture, and tourism infrastructure;
–Improving visitor centres and visitor welcome displays at Nunavut airports;
–Develop new and repair/upgrade shared arts studio space;
–Community beautification; and
–Producing Art for public spaces.
