Description:

The Product Development and Marketing Schedule supports the Department’s commitment to developing Nunavut’s Arts, Cultural and Tourism Sectors. This schedule provides assistance to Nunavut Small Businesses, organizations, individuals, and municipalities that have identified promising product and marketing opportunities.

Comments on Funding:

Minimum contribution of $5,000 and Maximum per project per annum $100,000.

Artists must contribute at least 10% of the project costs for which funding is provided. All other applicants must contribute at least 20% of the costs of any activity for which funding is provided. This may include an in-kind contribution or cash contribution.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

1. Be Nunavut Small Businesses which are either licensed tourism outfitters licensed tourism establishments Municipalities;
2. Be an Artists or Artist Groups; and
3. Be Societies.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must:

1. Submit Project Description;
2. Submit support for the Project (including letters of support and/or demonstration of funding from other sources);
3. Submit Project Budget (including quotes from a supplier where applicable)
4. Submit Expected Outcomes;
5. Submit Projected Social and/or Economic Return on Investment; and
6. Submit additional information provided (Include as much as possible to support your application)
–For recordings: Evidence that songs are ready to record, such as lyrics, notations or sample recordings
–For recordings: Booking confirmation from the recording studio
–For tourism related projects: A Tourism Plan for your community. You should show how your community would benefit, what opportunities for tourism exist, and what challenges are faced in realizing these opportunities;
–For tourism related projects: Assessment of potential to attract national or international visitors;
–Artists’ Support for the Project: letters of support or cooperation from stakeholders, youth groups, artists, Inuit organizations.
–For exhibition, shows, touring presentations, showcases: a letter of invitation or the registration.

Other Things to Note:

Eligible Activities:
1. Collaborative initiatives involving multiple artists from one or several disciplines for cultural tourists;
2. Community engagement and development. This may include hiring a community tourism coordinator, developing a tourism plan, or aiding in preparation for cruise ship visits;
3. Developing marketing strategies;
4. Exhibition, Shows, touring presentations, attending showcases;
5. Marketing tourism activities, products and attractions;
6. Product development and improvements, including packaging offerings; and
7. Recording.
