Description:
The Wildlife Damage Compensation Program is intended to compensate individuals who have experienced an economic loss caused by wildlife. In order to be eligible for this funding, individuals must have taken appropriate preventative action to try to avoid wildlife-related damage to their property. It is important to note that this program is not intended to cover all costs associated with wildlife damage, but to provide Nunavummiut with some degree of economic relief in the event of unpreventable wildlife damage.
Comments on Funding:
Maximum claim amount: $2,000.00. Claims made in excess of $2,000.00 will only be considered in extenuating circumstances.
Continuous Intake
Eligibility:
Applicants must be residents and recognized non‐profit community groups of Nunavut who experience damage to personal property caused by wildlife may be provided with financial assistance under this program.
Application Steps:
Applicants must complete the Wildlife Damage Compensation Claim Form and an affidavit of loss and submit these to the conservation officer.
Note: The affidavit of loss must be signed by a commissioner for oaths for Nunavut.

Other Things to Note:
Damage that occurs in circumstances where no efforts to prevent or reduce conflict are attempted are ineligible for compensation. Damage that occurs in circumstances where prevention or mitigation is not feasible is not eligible for compensation (e.g. meat caching, or unprotected country foods)
