Seal and Fur Contributions Grant Program (S&FG) – Dressed Sealskins for Nunavummiut Program

Description:

This program encourages the use of Nunavut sealskins for the value-added sealskin industry. The program provides Nunavut harvested dressed and/or dyed sealskins to Nunavummiut at cost price to ensure equal and easy access to sealskins for all Nunavummiut. The program acquires its seal skins exclusively from Department of Environment’s Sealskin Purchasing Program which provides financial compensation to harvesters for quality sealskins.

Comments on Funding:

Price per dressed sealskin is based on the size and quality of the sealskin, as well as the costs incurred to ship and process the sealskin.

The maximum amount available through this program per fiscal year is $100,000.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be residents, registered businesses, associations, societies, and organizations in Nunavut.

Applicants must complete the Funding Application Form and submit to:
Fisheries and Sealing Division
Department of Economic Development and Transportation
Box 1000 Station 1390, Iqaluit, Nunavut, XOA OHO

Applicants must:

1. Submit funding application form.
2. Submit a detailed project budget.

Other Things to Note:

The designated marketing agents may sell sealskins purchased through this program at a maximum increase of 15% of the purchase price.
