Summer Employment for Nunavut Students (SENS)

The Summer Employment for Nunavut Students (SENS) program is a wage subsidy program provided to employers who wish to hire and train Nunavut students over the summer months. Students may begin work immediately after completing their school year.


Comments on Funding:

1. SENS provides 50% of the student’s wage up to a maximum of 40 hours/week.
2. For persons with disabilities, SENS rates are 65% of the student’s wages up to a maximum of 40 hours/week.

Eligibility:

Eligible employers include:

  • non-profit organizations,
  • municipal governments,
  • private sector employers,
  • Inuit organizations or industry associations.
    Eligible students must:
  • be aged 15 years or older.
  • return to school in the fall.
  • be residents of Nunavut.
