The Climate Action Incentive Fund (CAIF) SME Project stream provides support to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for retrofit projects in sectors such as Building, Transportation, Industry, Waste, Agriculture, and more.
The CAIF program is available to applicants operating in the provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and New Brunswick.


Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to 25% of total eligible costs; not less then $20,000 and no more than $250,000 per project and recipient.
A $250,000 CAD funding cap will apply to the group of applicant franchisees who operate under the same franchise trade name in each eligible province.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:

  • Small-sized incorporated enterprises of 1-99 employees
  • Medium-sized incorporated enterprises of 100-499 employees
  • both types of enterprises need to operate in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and New Brunswick.
Application Steps:

In order to access the Climate Action Incentive Fund SME Project Based application from the SWIM home page, applicants must first connect their profile to their organization. First time users are strongly encouraged to review the guidance on the SWIM website, which includes a step-by-step walkthrough and short tutorial videos, to help facilitate setting up an account and accessing the online application form.

5. Project Costs;
6. Project Milestones;
7. Risks and Mitigation Strategies;
8. Environmental Assessment and Indigenous Engagement;
9. Feedback on the process.

Successful applicants will be required to submit receipts and invoices, and any other relevant documentation with each claim.
