Description:
The program supports professional development for Ontario artists and arts administrators who want to gain new skills – or improve existing skills – to advance their practice at any stage of their career. It funds all contemporary and traditional art practices that OAC supports in other project programs.
All learning must be led by a specialist who gives feedback throughout the training period. Specialists include mentors, teachers, trainers and Elders. Projects may include study, training, mentorship, internship, apprenticeship, or any combination of these activities.

Artists practicing professionally for 10 years or less: $7,500
Artists practicing professionally for 11 years or more: $7,500
Arts administrators: $7,500

Eligibility:
Applicants must be:
1. professional artists who live in Ontario and who work in one or more of the following arts practices:
a. craft
b. dance
c. literature
d. media arts
e. multi and inter-arts
f. music
g. theatre
h. visual arts
2. arts administrators who live in Ontario
Application Steps:
Applicants must Complete and submit an application in Nova, OAC’s online grant application system.
Documentation Needed:
Applicants must submit:
1. basic information about the project, including alternate plans for learning and/or travel adapted to a pandemic context
2. answers to application questions
3. a project budget
4. artistic examples (mandatory for artist applicants only): audio, video and/or literary examples
a. support documents (mandatory for all applicants):
i. your résumé or bio
ii. specialists’ bios, information about the organization(s) providing training, and/or official course descriptions, as applicable to your project
