Description:

The Global Market Development program provides eligible Ontario companies with funding to participate in international activities that support company growth and produce measurable business and market development results.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:

1.export-ready book publishers
2. have been in operation in Ontario for at least one year;
3. have minimum sales revenues from Canadian-authored titles of $20,000;
4. derive more than 50% of their total sales revenues for the Company from book sales;
5. have at least 50% of their titles written by authors who are neither shareholders nor
owners of the publishing firm; and
6. have a minimum of 6 Canadian-authored titles in print, and have at least 2 books
currently signed and/or in production.
7. be Canadian-owned;
8. be incorporated in Ontario or federally;
9. be a private sector, for-profit company; however, Ontario Creates will consider the
eligibility of a not-for-profit publisher application if the publisher is able to provide a
good business case as to how/why attendance at the particular events is critical to the
planned strategic growth of the company, and that the events will result in measurable
business growth that can be quantified as anticipated $ results; and
10. be in good standing with Ontario Creates at the time of application submission

Application Steps:

Applicants must:

1. Submit via the Ontario Creates Online Application Portal (OAP). Applications submitted by any other method will not be accepted.

2. Before beginning an application, your company’s corporate information must be registered with the OAP. If you do not have a user account on OAP, please go to https://apply.ontariocreates.ca/ and click on “Register”. If your company is registered, the Ontario Creates Global Market Development Fund – Book program deadline will appear in your dashboard. To start the application, click on “Start new application” and follow the onscreen directions to access the application form.
3. Applicants are strongly encouraged to begin the application process early to allow ample time to compile and complete the necessary information. There is flexibility for completing the application form – you may begin at any time and save information as it is entered. Once saved, you can go back and edit and/or add information until the time when the application is actually submitted.
4. If you encounter problems setting up your company’s corporate information, you can email applyhelp@ontariocreates.ca for assistance. This email address can also be used for any technical questions you have about the OAP.
