Growing Future Opportunities Initiative
The Canadian and Ontario governments launched this initiative to help growers plant varieties of produce that would improve quality, production, and marketability.
Growers can receive 75% of eligible costs up to $50,000 to replace existing varieties with different varieties of tender fruit trees, apple trees, or table grapes.

Eligibility
Growers can receive 75% of eligible costs up to $50,000 to replace existing varieties with different varieties of tender fruit trees, apple trees, or table grapes.
The trees and vines being replaced must have been in commercial production within the last 3 years.
Growers need to replant in the same location they removed the trees and vines from.
If application is approved, eligible costs are incurred starting on October 30, 2023.
Project completion deadline extended to September 30, 2027. To support apple, tender fruit, and table grape growers, the project completion date under the Growing Future Opportunities Initiative has been extended from December 31, 2026 to September 30, 2027
Growers can receive 75% of eligible costs up to $50,000 to replace existing wine grape vines with one of the following approved varieties:
Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Sauvignon
Chardonnay
Gamay Noir
Merlot
Pinot Gris
Pinot Noir
Sauvignon Blanc
The vines being replaced must have been in commercial production within the last 3 years.
Growers need to replant in the same block or row that the vines were removed from.
If application is approved, eligible costs are incurred starting on April 4, 2024.
Applicants can apply to each Commodity Category once under the Initiative.
Applicants must not submit an Application for a Project where the Applicant has already received funding for that Project through Sustainable CAP.

Note: eligible applicants can receive a maximum of $50,000 in total funding for all commodity categories (wine grapes, apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, cherries, and table grapes).
A Recipient is eligible to receive 75% of Eligible Costs up to a maximum of $50,000 (fifty thousand dollars) in total funding across all Commodity Categories under the Initiative.

Funding for the Initiative comes from the Sustainable CAP. Up to eight million dollars ($8,000,000) has been allocated for the Initiative.
Approved cost-share funding is paid after the successful Applicant:
- Has incurred and paid the cost;
- Has planted the purchased nursery stock;
- Has submitted a maximum of one Claim and final report per Commodity Category
that meets all requirements; and
- AgriCorp has approved the Claim(s).
