The Peterborough Region Angel Network (PRAN) brings together individual investors from the Peterborough area. Peterborough Angels combine their wealth of knowledge and experience to collaborate and invest in early-stage growth companies. Their particular areas of focus for investment include information & communication technology (ICT), medical technology, green technology, biotechnology, and life sciences.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • be early stage growth companies;
  • be involved in PRAN's areas of focus for investment: information & communication technology (ICT), medical technology, green technology (cleantech), biotechnology and life-sciences;
  • go to the Innovation Cluster to prepare prior to pitching;
  • propose projects with:
    a) distinct competitive advantage;
    b) high value-added component;
    c) environmentally friendly impact;
    d) green technology, life-science or manufacturing focus;
    e) strong management + skills personnel;
    f) international expansion potential;
    g) in-line with the values + expertise of the Angels.
Application Steps:

Applicants must:

1. connect with the Innovation Cluster by emailing pran@innovationcluster.ca;

2. prepare their initial pitch and submit it to a PRAN sub-committee, which is tasked with "pre-screening" all applicants;

3. present to PRAN at one of their upcoming Investment Forums, if successful/invited.

Documentation Needed:

1. Applicants must prepare their initial pitch using the presentation template provided by PRAN and PRAN's pitch guidelines.
2. As progress moves forward with expressions of interest from the Angels, a comprehensive business plan may become a necessary reference tool for negotiations. This plan remains 100% the exclusive property of the applicant during the entire application process.
Pitch preparation requirements:
1. a concise description of the market need that the company fills;
2. an outline of what the company strives to do and why (vision);
3. a description of what the market realities and size of the opportunity are;
4. a brief description of the product, technology, and/or service;
5. a outline of management team, advisors, and owners;
6. a brief description of go-to-market strategies;
7. a detailed outline of financials (breakdown of revenues, expenditures, etc);
8. a suggested exit strategy for Angel Investors.

Other Things to Note:

1. The Peterborough Region Angel Network meets once monthly in the downtown core of Peterborough Ont., to hear from a minimum of two innovative startup companies that are high potential and ready for investment.
