Description:

The Canada-Quebec ministerial initiative aims to provide financial assistance to agricultural producers who have suffered damage resulting in additional expenses due to excessive rainfall during the 2023 growing season. It specifically targets businesses specializing in the cultivation of strawberries, raspberries, potatoes and field vegetables.

Comments on Funding:

Financial assistance can reach up to $3,613/ha for strawberry and raspberry production and up to $904/ha for field vegetables and potatoes.

Financial assistance is limited to a maximum of $350,000 per business.

Deadline:

Project submissions are ongoing until February 17, 2025 .

Eligibility:

Eligible customers
To be eligible, the applicant must:

Be an agricultural business registered with MAPAQ and hold a ministerial identification number (NIM) of the agricultural operation type;
Be located in one of the following regions:
Lower St. Lawrence;
National Capital;
Centre-du-Québec;
Chaudière-Appalaches;
North Shore;
Eastern Townships;
Gaspésie–Magdalen Islands;
Lanaudiere;
Laurentians;
Laval;
Mauricie;
Montérégie;
Montreal;
Outaouais;
Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean;
Have produced a minimum of 0.5 hectares of an eligible crop category during the 2023 growing season;
Demonstrate an increase in eligible expenses for the 2023 growing season compared to the 2022 growing season greater than the applied deductible.
Eligible crops
Eligible crop categories are small fruit crops (strawberries and raspberries) and field vegetable and potato crops.

Other Things to Note:

Eligible expenses
Expenses exceptionally incurred by the company between June 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023, caused by excess rainfall in the 2023 growing season, among the following:

Purchase of fertilizers and pesticides;
Replacement of containers (only for the strawberry and raspberry growing category);
Labor costs;
Contract work, i.e. work carried out by a third party for the purpose of restoring fields, including:
culvert repair;
hilling;
drainage works;
cleaning ditches;
leveling;
soil decompaction work, etc.
Any company declaring expenses associated with fixed-price work must submit a copy of the invoices and other supporting documents deemed relevant for the analysis of its file.
