Eligibility:
Companies eligible for sub-component 2A are:
non-profit organizations (NPOs);
cooperatives, federations of cooperatives or confederations.
When purchasing a business in its entirety, the following categories of cooperatives are eligible:
Work cooperative;
Producers’ cooperative;
Consumer cooperative;
Solidarity cooperative;
Federation or confederation.
A business must have a total asset value of $100 million or less to be eligible.

As of December 6, 2024, the capitalization program for social economy enterprises (CAES) is suspended for an indefinite period. This suspension is mainly intended to ensure the availability of funds in order to meet contractual commitments.
The receipt of new applications is suspended until further notice to ensure proper management of the budget envelope and program standards.
