Competitiveness and Environment Program: Stream 1 – External Expertise and Skills Acquisition

Description:
This program stream supports the provision of external expertise and the acquisition of skills in dairy and meat processing companies in order to improve their competitiveness or their environmental footprint. Financial assistance covers 60% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of $100,000. A maximum increase of 10% of eligible expenses may be granted for projects that meet departmental or government priorities.

Eligibility:
The applicant must:
1. be an enterprise registered with the Quebec Business Registry that holds one of the following permits:
a) proximity slaughterhouse or permanent inspection slaughterhouse permit granted under the Food Products Act (RLRQ, chapter P-29);
b) wholesale meat products license (C1) granted under the Food Products Act (RLRQ, chapter P-29) that primarily processes meat from a provincially inspected permanent slaughterhouse;
c) license for slaughtering animals for human consumption (federally inspected slaughterhouse) under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations;
d) dairy plant operating permit granted under the Food Products Act (RLRQ, chapter P-29).
2. be an enterprise specialized in the transportation of animals for agricultural enterprises and registered with the Quebec Business Registry;
3. be a promoter.
Application Steps:
Completed and signed financial assistance application form.
Financing plan (Annex 1) related to the application, duly completed.
Latest externally audited, reviewed, or compiled financial statements by a professional accountant (CPA), or any other document allowing the applicant’s financial situation to be assessed (personal balance sheet, latest tax report, forecasted financial statements, interim financial statements, proof of funding sources, etc.).
Service offer from the external expertise involved in the project.
Valid permit or license demonstrating the applicant’s eligibility, if required.
