Description:

Support the development and growth of events.

Comments on Funding:

Financial assistance may not exceed the lesser of:

30% of eligible project expenses, up to a maximum of $300,000;
financial assistance granted as performance assistance in section 1 or 2 for the years covered by the project.
The financial aid may be spread over two years.

Festivals and events supported under Component 1 or 2 may benefit from financial assistance under Component 3 a maximum of once during the programme application period.

Eligibility:

In addition to being supported under components 1 or 2 of this program and meeting the general criteria of the program, the festival or tourist event must:

present a project aimed at developing innovative initiatives or an initiative enabling the growth of the event;
present how the project will contribute to the development of the event, that is to say to an increase in its tourist performance, its traffic or tourist revenue;
present eligible costs separate from those presented in sections 1 or 2. If the project takes into account expenses over more than one year, the breakdown of these expenses annually must be presented when applying.

Instructions for submitting an application under Streams 3 and 4 will be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, be sure to prepare the following documentation:

A detailed description of the project or one-off event;
A complete financial plan, including expenses and revenues planned for this project specifically. This plan must include a complete breakdown of government contributions (aid from the federal and provincial governments as well as municipal entities).

Other Things to Note:

The project analysis process is the responsibility of the Ministry based on a framework and management rules which are developed for this purpose.

In order for their application to be considered, the beneficiary must respect the application submission periods established by the Ministry and submit a complete file during the call for projects (sections 1 and 2). In the case of sections 3 and 4, applications for financial assistance are received continuously.

Projects eligible for support under component 3 of this programme must take place between 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2026.

Events supported under component 4 must take place after April 1, 2023, but may be carried out in subsequent years according to an established schedule.
