Financial assistance to convert an oil or propane heating system to electricity for a building

Description:

The simplified component of the EcoPerformance program supports small energy consumers in the business sector who wish to heat their building with electricity instead of using fuel oil or propane. Read the contents of note number1 .

Comments on Funding:

To estimate the financial assistance to which you may be entitled, complete the financial assistance application form (XLS 883 KB) :

In the “Request” tab, “E. Project” section:
Select the measurement type;
Select the fuel to replace;
Select the type of replacement system.
In the “Current Consumption” tab, enter all fuel bills related to heating for this site and corresponding to the eligible consumption period (the 24 months preceding the request for financial assistance).
The estimated aid will appear in the orange box.
When requesting payment, the financial assistance will be recalculated based on the updated project information. If the amount of assistance needs to be revised, it will only be revised downwards. If the old equipment is not dismantled as part of the project, 20 % of the consumption will be deducted from the calculation of the financial assistance.

The accumulation of financial assistance from different energy distributors is not accepted for a project submitted under this section.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, the existing building must be located in Quebec and be used:

Commercial;
Institutional;
Industrial;
Agricultural (except greenhouses) or agri-food;
Mixed (residential and commercial or institutional);
Residential only (building with four or more floors, or more than 600 m² of floor space). A basement or semi-basement is not considered a floor.

Application Steps:

A support service is available if you need help completing the financial aid application. Send your request for assistance by email, including your name and telephone number. A representative will contact you.

Step 1 – Submit your project
To submit a project, you must provide:

The ÉcoPerformance Financial Assistance Application Form – Conversion of the heating system (XLS 883 KB) electronically in Excel format (save it before completing it). The completed form must be sent and dated by the authorized signatory. The authorized signatory must be registered with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec as a director or officer who is not a member of the board of directors. If this is not the case, you will need to provide a power of attorney;
The photos:
From the existing fossil fuel heating system and the surrounding space;
From each of the fossil fuel reservoirs and the surrounding space;
From the nameplate of the existing heating system(s). The plate contains information such as the brand, serial number, power, etc.;
The following invoices:
The most recent electricity bill with all pages (rate type and annual summary must be included);
Fossil fuel bills for the 24-month period preceding the application for financial assistance;
The land assessment role of the site covered by the application.

Step 2 – Confirmation of your project’s eligibility
If your application meets the program criteria, you will receive by email:

The date of registration of your project;
The date of eligibility of expenses (date of anteriority);
The maximum amount of financial assistance that may be granted to you;
The payment request form.
You can then undertake your conversion work, which must be completed within a maximum period of 24 months.

Step 3 – Carrying out the work
You can now begin your conversion work, which must be completed within a maximum period of 24 months .

Invoices dated 30 calendar days or less prior to the date your complete application was received may be accepted. Please check the expense eligibility date that was communicated to you.

Step 4 – Request payment
When your work is completed and the new heating system is in operation, you must provide :

The payment request, signed and dated by an authorized person;
Invoices relating to the implementation of the measure;
The photos:
From the new heating system;
From the nameplate of the new heating system;
From the dismantled fuel oil system (free space or occupied by the new system);
From the dismantled fuel tank (free space).
After validation of the documents, the financial aid is recalculated and the final payment is sent to you.

2. Power of attorney (if the signatory is not registered with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec)
